Supporting the local economy

The local economy in East Renfrewshire is primarily driven by incredible small businesses and entrepreneurs, working across a diverse range of sectors. We have some incredible success stories, and national and international leaders in their field, who invest in East Renfrewshire and provide great employment opportunities.

I always want to highlight East Ren success in Parliament, and one way of doing that is through Early Day Motions. These allow the whole of Parliament to recognise fantastic achievements taking place across the community, and you can find all the EDMs I’ve lodged since my election here:

Whenever I visit or meet local employers, I am always struck by how passionate they are for the local area and how much they want to make a success of their business for the community. Small businesses are the lifeblood of the UK economy, and I will always back them and work to provide them with the support they need to flourish.

Since I was elected I have pushed for delivery of the £44 million of investment coming to East Renfrewshire through the Glasgow City Region Deal, meeting regularly with the Secretary of State for Scotland to discuss progress. I regularly bring UK Government Ministers to East Renfrewshire to hear from residents and businesses directly, so you can input right into the heart of Government thinking.
